Compton (1899-) made scissors and shears as well as tin snips, razors and button-hole punches. Common brand and marketing names include Reliance and U-set.
I bought a pair of Compton shears for two dollars a couple of days ago. They appear to be industrial shears perhaps used in shoe making. The rivet has been hammered on an anvil which causes me to suspect that they are 75 to 100 years old. They are in excellent working condition and I am very happy to own them.
The slogan is ironic! My boyfriends grandmother died and left him her house with most of her stuff. One day my nieces and nephews were over for a haircut. When the 3 year old was up, she bounced around excitedly yelling "yayy Compton scissors!" over and over before I ever took them out of a drawer. Shes never been here or seen them before. So I literally guess "compton are good for a lifetime and beyond" LMAO genuinely the craziest thing, they weren't even sharp or in very good condition.
