Compton (1899-) made scissors and shears as well as tin snips, razors and button-hole punches. Common brand and marketing names include Reliance and U-set.

 The advertising slogans included:

I don't really know anything about these scissors but I am a sucker for figural scissors.  I am going to guess they are antique.  They have no markings.

These shears come with or without that black enamel on the handle.  These shears are not particularly rare.  Modern versions are still in production but have a noticeably different design.


The full name of the manufacturer is "Red Canary" and these shears are not rare.
